Located 22 kilometres from the picturesque Marysville township, Lake Mountain transforms into a winter wonderland during the colder months with activities to suit all ages. Build a snowman, take a toboggan ride, make snow angels or have a snowball fight – Lake Mountain is the perfect destination for snow play. Explore the magnificent trail network with snowshoes or on cross country skis or walk to the summit to soak in the amazing views. Book a lesson with our experienced ski instructors or introduce the kids to snowboarding on the ‘Burton Riglets Park’.
Over the warmer months, escape to the cooler alpine climate for bushwalking, mountain biking and our adventure activities. Experience the exhilaration of the 240 metre dual Flying Fox, slide down the Tube Run or join in a game of Laser Skirmish. Explore the extensive track and trail network on foot or hire a mountain bike from the Lake Mountain Café that is open for refreshments and home to a giant indoor Jumping Castle. There is also 20 kilometres of single track, suitable for the novice to experienced mountain biker.
As the closest of the Seven Peaks to Melbourne that form part of the Alpine Ascent Challenge, the Lake Mountain climb presents riders with a challenging 20.78 kilometre ascent but are well rewarded with spectacular views when they reach the top.

The Southern Alpine Resort Management Board is established by the Alpine Resorts (Management) Act 1997 S 34 (2). The Board is deemed to be the committee of management of all the Crown Land within the Lake Mountain and Mount Baw Baw Alpine Resorts which are deemed permanently reserved under the Crown Land Reserves Act 1978.
Individual Board members are appointed and responsible to the Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change. Appointments commenced 1 January 2016 and will expire on 31 December 2017.
