Nordic Walking at Lake Mountain
What is it?
Nordic Walking uses specially designed poles and learned technique to create a low stress, yet highly effective total body workout. It originated in Scandinavia by cross country skiers who wished to maintain their upper body fitness during their non-competitive summer season.
Why here at Lake Mountain?
It's only natural that Lake Mountain is one of the first resorts in Austrailia to offer the new activity of nordic walking, as it is a premier cross country skiing destination. The trail system provides an ideal venue for Nordic Walking, with over 30kms of suitable trails.
Nordic Walking can be done by almost anyone, regardless of age or fitness level it can be done on any sort of terrain, from sandy trails to open grasslands and asphalt paths. It is a great way to explore the mountain and take in the lookout points along the way.

The Benefits of Nordic Walking
The health benefits of Nordic Walking are impressive. It activates 90% of the body's musles, gives 20-25% greater cardio fitness than regular walking, burns up to 46% more calories than regular walking, releases pain and musle tension and improves co-ordination.
Nordic Academy
