NEW ... Mountains Cycling Challenge. Saturday 2nd May 2009
This event will now form part of the bushfire recovery effort. Help us recover from the Black Saturday bushires.
A fantastic new event organised in conjunction with CycleSport Victoria. This is a major event for participation and race road cyclists that will also include fun activities for all the supporting crews and families of those actually participating. | Marysville Lake Mountain Bushfire Recovery Challenge Saturday May 2 8:30am – approx 4pm
135km participation ride starting near Marysville taking in Buxton, Taggerty, Thornton, Eildon, Alexandra back through Taggerty, Buxton, Marysville through to and up to Lake Mountain resort. A fantastic scenic route with some hill challenges.....are you ready!!!
A shorter 70km ride is available. Start in Marysville, the ride turn point will be at Taggerty, finish will be at Lake Mountain
Key features and ancillary activities:
• Lots of riders are expected to particpate in this bushfire recovery event. • Within 1 hour from many parts of Melbourne • Timed full trip and hill climb to Lake Mountain • Carnival atmosphere on Mountain from around 11am – 4pm featuring "come n try activities". • Entertainment for family of ride participants at finish points. • Food available |

Cycling: Alpine Asents Challenge .....are you up for it!!!
The ride from Marysville to Lake Mountain is part of this great event. Whoever said that Australia is the world's flattest continent hadn't ridden in the Victorian Alps. The Alpine Ascent Challenge takes you up winding mountain roads, through challenging turns and across the summits of the State's best alpine resorts. When you finally make it to the top you will be in Heaven. Take in magnificent alpine views, enjoy a great meal or make a night of it in a stunning mountain resort. The best part is that no matter how long you stay, you'll get to enjoy the exhilaration of an effortless mountain descent.
Huge effort deserves great rewards. Ride four of these seven classic climbs and you will be eligible to be in the running to win a one week trip to the 2009 Tour de France, guided by Aussie cycling legend Phil Anderson. (See terms and conditions)
HOW TO ENTER THIS EVENT:
- Pick up an information passport at www.alpineascentchallenge.com.au
- Collect an entry passport from a cycling shop
- Contact Lake Mountain and we will post you a passport. Click here to contact us.
- Pick up a passport at any of the participating alpine resorts
- Prepare to climb the mountains: Mt Buller, Mt Baw Baw, Lake Mountain, Mt Buffalo, Mt Hotham, Falls Creek and Dinner plain.
- Successfully complete at least 4 of the mountain climbs. Make sure your passport is stamped at the top.

Mini Series Ski Races
A great way to introduce our young skiers to racing. This series of 3 races over 3 distances is run by a very friendly and supportive team.
All are freestyle events which means you can classical or skate ski.

Bullfight Charge
The major ski event of the season at Lake Mountain. Organised by the very friendly and well organised Bullfight Ski Club, the Bullfight Charge is a great event to just have a go at or to really see how good you are. If you are serious train hard and go for it! Or just have fun.
- Freestyle event
- 3.5 or 8km
- Male/female and age group categories.

Inter Schools Classic
A great opportunity for all those schools who run skiing programs and want to enter their students in a race. A low key introduction to ski racing. A good lead up event to races later in the year.

Toboggan Racing
Have a go! Plan a visit!
Why should the skiers have all the fun when you can race on a toboggan? The toboggan races Lake Mountain has held for the last couple of years have been so popular that we have decided to run a semi formal day of racing. We have different categories with heats, finals and lots of prizes. There will even be a radar gun to check your speed thanks to support from the local Marysville Police!!! The event is being sponsored by Lake Mountain and many of the local ski hires.
A fun new event: Toboggan Race Day!
Saturday 22nd August Free entry to the races Heats and finals of each category Plenty of great prizes
Race day schedule
11am to 12 noon: Race 1: 8 years old and under
Race 2: 9 to 12 years old
12 noon to 1pm: Snow sculpture competition. 1 entry per family.
1pm to 2pm: Race 3: Teenagers
Race 4. Adults.
Final Event: Race 5. The Lake Mountain Cup: The first 3 place getters of all the above tobogganing events qualify for this prestigious grand final.
Rules:
1. Moulded plastic toboggans only. 2. You must sit or kneel on your toboggan. 3. Stay within the race course. 4. Race officials decisions are final. 5. Have fun!! Don't get too serious.
